Berg "Sticky" Antennae

Are you tired of looking at your airplane with 20 inches of antenna wire dragging behind it? The STICKY antenna was conceived by John Weaver of RC-Direct, and designed by Peter Berg to effectively replace your long receiver antenna with minimum loss of range. STICKY is a flexible antenna which weighs only 0.5 grams and is only 19.8cm (7.8") long. STICKY is tuned to the 72 MHz radio control frequency band. STICKY is only 0.007” (less than 0.2 mm) thick and has (you guessed it) a sticky backside, you can “peel-and-stick” it anywhere on or in your airplane. STICKY is photo chemically etched on a flexible mylar substrate, similar to what you see in a printer head “ribbon” cable. The zigzag antenna wire and the base loading inductor are etched in copper. All exposed copper is then gold plated (REAL gold!) so that the antenna will yield minimum resistance and not be affected by corrosion. To use STICKY antenna, you must cut the antenna of your receiver so that the total length between your receiver and the edge of STICKY is 5 inches. You may either solder the pigtail of STICKY to the remaining length of receiver antenna, or you may use the supplied connectors. To attach to plane, simply peel the paper backing off, and stick the antenna to the fuselage or wing. For optimum performance, keep STICKY away from other electrical components, carbon parts, battery wiring etc. STICKY offers a minimum loss of range; to make sure you will fly safely, always perform a range check prior to flight, just as you would do with a “full length” antenna.

Berg-6*DSP III Receiver
Digital Signal Processing, TSR, and Fail Safe Mode

The Berg-6*G III offer the highest performance and largest feature set in R/C receivers today, in an extremely compact and lightweight package. Transmitter Signal Recognition (TSR) means that the receiver learns the characteristics, or the signature of the transmitter, and this makes it compatible with all brands1 of 72Mhz FM transmitters. Berg's advanced ultra-narrow-band circuitry design bypasses the types of interface found in our R/C field environments, and lets you fly without worry.

Considering size and price, the Berg-6*G III receiver sports a feature set that outclasses every other receiver on the market. Fail Safe (FS) or Signal Hold options, Transmitter Signal Recognition, and programmable channel 5 or channel 7.

Specifications:

  • Output Channels: 6  (fifth pin-out is programmable for either Channel 5 OR Channel 7)
  • Narrow Band: 5 KHz or better
  • Sensitivity: 2 uV
  • Front End Filtering: Triple Tuned RF
  • IF Filtering: Transformer + 6-Pole Ceramic Filter
  • Decoder Filtering: DSP with Adaptive Algorithms based on S/N of Received Signal
  • Modulation Shift Polarity: Auto-detect
  • Operating Voltage: 4.8 ~ 6.0 Volt
  • Operating Range: Line-of-sight
  • Weight (Receiver without Case): 10.0 grams
  • Weight (Case): 3.5 grams
  • Dimensions: 0.53" x 0.85" x 1.65"
  • Antenna Length: 38"

1: Futaba Frequency Synthesizer modules are not compatible with Berg receivers. The Hitec Spectra Module, which uses standard pulse encoding, works fine.

The default settings on Berg-6*G III are Fly-wheel Hold Mode ON, Fail-safe Mode OFF, and Channel 5 output on output port 5. Transmitter and two jumpers (included) are required for programming.

Berg-5*DSP II Receiver with Digital Signal Processing, TSR

The small, lightweight 72Mhz Berg-5*DSP II receiver is a full-range, no compromise, super narrow-band receiver using Digital Signal Processing in the servo pulse decoder for optimum performance in even the worst RF environments. This new receiver performs better than any receiver in its class, and can be safely used in any model aircraft or helicopter.

The Berg-5*DSP produces five servo outputs. Channels 1, 2, 3, 4 are fixed, and the fifth output can be programmed for either channel 5 or channel 6. Therefore it is compatible with virtually any transmitter1 to use aileron/flap mixing for airplanes or CP mixing for helicopters.
(see instructions on channel programming)

The Transmitter Signal Recognition (TSR) of the receiver learns the characteristics, or "signature", of the transmitter and this makes it compatible with all brands of 72Mhz FM transmitters.

By itself, this receiver weighs only 9.5 grams. It is packaged in a strong, lightweight, fuel-proof, case (3.5 grams). To save weight, you may remove the case and cover with the included clear heat-shrink material. To facilitate this, Berg has designed a special antenna restraint into this receiver. It's not "unbreakable", but it is a vast improvement over what we have thus far seen in the industry.

Specifications:

Narrow band 7 KHz or better
Weight (with crystal) 9.5 grams (+3.5g with hard case)
Operating voltage 3.6 ~ 6.0 Volt
Crystal Std. size Berg  or JR - SINGLE CONVERSION
Available shift polarities Auto-Detects Tx type
Output channels 1, 2, 3, 4 + EITHER 5 OR 6 selectable
Features:

bullet Receiver will operate with full range on a 3-cell NiCad pack, thus allowing for single-cell failure.
bullet The Berg-5*DSP is reverse-voltage protected; this means that accidental reversal of battery voltage will not destroy it.
bullet Shift polarity automatically adjusts to suit either (-)shift Futaba/Hitec or (+)shift JR/Airtronics transmitters.
bullet Dedicated pin-out for battery, so all channels can be connected without using a Y harness.

  The Original
Berg-5*DSP with protective case (L) and covered in the supplied clear shrink tube (R)

(R) With a JR crystal in the stock crystal case and (L) the antennae restraint
1 Futaba Transmitters with  either Futaba or Hitec RF synthesizer modules do not work correctly with Berg-5*DSP receiver. (Hitec Tx OK)

New! Berg-4*DSP II "Micro Stamp" Receiver 72Mhz

Now with TSR and Auto-Shift

Berg-4*DSP imageThis newest member of the Berg Receiver family, is as small as a stamp and almost as thin and light - it's simply amazing when you hold one in your hand. But that's not all...  How many times have you settled for the receiver that would FIT in your model, but spent every flight wondering if a "HIT" was going to take you down?  Well, not only does the Micro Stamp  fit in places that no receiver ever fit before, it gives you unparalleled reliability as well.  The tiny on-board computer constantly checks the quality of the signals coming in, cleans them up, and rejects "bad" signals.
The Transmitter Signal Recognition (TSR) of the receiver learns the characteristics, or "signature", of the transmitter and this makes it automatically compatible with all brands of 72Mhz FM transmitters.   Finally, a receiver for small models in a tiny package that gives away nothing, and adds a lot more! As one customer put it so well:  "It ROCKS!"

• Full range! (Pylon Pilots OK!)
• Ultra narrow band, Triple-tuned receiver front end
• DSP* microprocessor decoder passes only "good" pulses to servos
• On-board LED signal quality indicator
• Available on all 72 MHz frequencies
• Uses 72Mhz Berg or GWS Micro Crystals
• Meets AMA specifications
• Only 7 grams total weight with antennae!
• Dimensions 1.42 x 0.77 x 0.280 (Believe it!)
• "Double  Horizontal" pin layout to fit in the tightest spots
