HYPERION EOS SERIES
LITHIUM BALANCE ADAPTER 6

SEE USER'S MANUAL AT PAGE BOTTOM

The Hyperion EOS Lithium Balance Adapter is the result of an intensive 18-month development effort. Simply put, it is the most powerful, versatile, and safest way to charge your lithium packs today.  The LBA6 provides three ways to balance your lithium packs, at a maximum of up to 6-ampere rate!
  • Standalone (disconnect) mode:  Just connect the LBA6 to the balance connector on your pack.  It automatically discharges the highest voltage cells until the pack is balanced, then shuts down.
  • Connected to a discharge load:  Load can be a discharger, or even something as simple as a light bulb, to speed the balance process.
  • Connected to a charger: While the pack is charged by your lithium charger at up to 6A rate, the LBA6 maintains balance across the cells. In the event that the pack is very badly out of balance - or damaged such that it cannot be balanced - the LBA protects the pack by disconnecting if any one cell reaches max allowed voltage.  (see photos of Disconnect and Connection Mode Balancing below)

On the right side of the unit you'll find a 7-pin female socket, to which you attach the supplied charging harnesses.  The EOS LBA6 comes with harnesses for 2S, 3S, 4S, and 5S packs already included!  The standard harnesses fit lithium packs from PolyQuest, Hyperion (coming soon!), and E-Tec lithium packs.  By the end of October we will have replacement harnesses, optional high-amp harnesses, and adapters for other brand packs also available online.... in addition to pack-side connectors which you can use to wire your own packs for balancing.

On the left side of the unit is the cable to charger/discharger, on which you'll find two high-quality, 4mm gold banana plugs already installed for you. The LBA 6 works with virtually any lithium-capable battery charger, but we do recommend the Hyperion EOS 5i and EOS 7i chargers whenever possible, as they are the most accurate in charge voltage, maintaining battery life, but will also always fully charge your packs (which some other chargers don't!).

The individual Cell and Status LEDs give you valuable information about the state of your pack when your first connect, and also tell you what KIND of error you have, if something should every go wrong. Cell LEDs #1, 3, 5 are Red, and #2, 4 are Green.  The color has no meaning; it just makes it easier to see which cell is indicated.

The User's manual explains the functions of the new LBA 6 more thoroughly, so please take a look...

NOTE:  The user's manual doesn't clearly explain behavior of the LBA when it is connected to a pack which is already closely balanced.  In this case, the CELL STATUS LEDs will signal a series of Five Single Flashes . . . . .   Then the LBA will Disconnect and shut down.  If you want to balance charge the pack at this point, push the MODE button TWICE to enter Connection Mode, then push the start button on your charger (chargers without Start Button will begin charging after you push MODE button twice).

NOTE:  The four harnesses included with the LBA 6 are not labeled.  We suggest attaching labels to each harness for your convenience.  See the users manual for diagrams of each harness, in order to label yours.  By the way, attaching the wrong harness will cause no problem; the EOS LBA6 will simply indicate a connection error, and shut down.
