| Hyperion YAK 54 "40" Electric
3D Pictured Prototype without Decals Models Arrive Hyperion Dealers about Feb 15th 2006 The video contains information about the power setup used. We'll be recommending the Z4020-14 (3D/Aerobat Mix) and Z4020-16 (3D Primary) with Hyperion VX3300, VX3700, or CL4200-5S packs. Controller is TITAN 80A OPTO. | Kabriolin Z4025-12, HP-LVX-3700-5S, TITAN 80A OPTO Submitted by Mr. R Mollenhauer, Australia The
motor installation to my Topmodel Kabriolin was very quick and painless. The
threaded rod type mount was originally positioned to give clearance for the
previous B50 12S motor and heat sink. To my surprise no change (other than
cutting the rods shorter) was required to mount the Z40 using the firewall
mount.Fitting the cowl over the motor was a concern but presented no problem. I replaced the original 16 cell nicad pack with the HP LVX3700 5S pack and model flying weight has now reduced from 3Kg to 2.5Kg. Test running the motor at full power showed aprox 40 amps and 700watts with an APC-E 14 X 7 prop, and aprox 50 amps 900 watts with an APC-E 15 X 8. At the flying field Sunday afternoon I first tried the 14 x7 prop. The model flew very well but the pull out from hover position was slow. The next flights were done with the 15x8 prop. The model will now hover on just over half throttle and flies away with authority from the hover. The reduced weight of the model has improved the handling greatly, giving the feel of an oversized parkflier. The batteries took about 2400ma to recharge after ten minutes flying leaving plenty of power in the pack to extend flight times. The motor and battery were warm to touch after flight. The pitch speed with the 15 X 8 APC-E prop is a little high for 3D flying but is a good compromise if you want conventional aerobatics and 3D. I plan to try 16 X 6 and 15 X 6 props soon to hopefully improve the efficiency and performance for 3D. I have now set my TX timer to 12 minutes, with this flight time and depending on flying style the batteries now take between 2000 and 3000 ma to recharge. The model now has over 20 flights with this motor and I can honestly
say "Why would you ever wont to go for a glo motor in this 46 class of 3D
model?" The performance of the Z40 motor is certainly up
with the best and the price is reasonable. I do hope the video gives you
some idea of how well this model goes. |
| Ryan STA Builder/Pilot: Mr. T. Sasaki, Fukuoka Japan This video was taken on first flight for the Ryan, on a field recently torn up by a Taiphoon. But it went pretty well, anyway... The Z4045-10 motor, battery, and ESC were under-stressed, based on the low temperatures after the flight. The battery pack is the Hyperion LVX-3700-4S, wired in series for 8S voltage. Although the battery is capable of sustained output at 70A+, average discharge during a mixed flight is under 35 amps. As such, the 3700mAh pack provides long flights and light weight. The controller used is the Hyperion HP-TITAN-90HV-PO. Click here, or the picture below, for video |

| Kyosho Oxalys
(originally designed for 4-cycle 0.53~0.63ci engine) Builder/Pilot: (submitted by Mr. S. Sasaki for his friend in Chiba Japan) -----Flight #1 Comments ------------ Z4025-10, Titan 80A OPTO, APC 12x10E, HP-LVX3300-5S 46.1A, 748W, 8370rpm Finished AUW is about 2.5kg (vs 2.4kg with YS FZ63S four-cycle engine), is comparably powerful. It has long enough gear legs, so we will try 13 or 14 inch props next. It is very lightly built, its pipe space is perfect for lipo and ESC to fit. Does not need to cut anything, only 30g weight at the tail to get correct CG. Motor, battery and ESC is barely warm after 7 minutes first flight.
